2020 SCHOOL SESSION PROGRAMS UPDATE

EFFECTIVE 2/18/2021

 

The Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County is currently enrolling youth in grades K-5 for afterschool enrichment, and grades 6– 12 for all day service, providing support, supervision and learning resources on virtual learning schooldays. Please call (828) 693-9444 for more information on enrollment. 

  K-5th graders:   AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

·         Hours of Operation:    3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

·         Transportation TO the Club is available from most schools.

·         CURBSIDE DISMISSAL (5:00 – 5:30 p.m.): Members will be delivered, curbside, to designated zone for parent pick-up.

·         OPEN DISMISSAL: Members may be dismissed by approved parent/guardian following arrival. Parents/Guardians may not enter the building but must arrive in person to main entrance for assistance. Parents must sign members out upon arrival with Club staff.

·         Participation in Power Hour (Daily homework time) and other Club programs is mandatory.

·         Health Guidelines

o   Youth must have a temperature less than 100.4 to attend the Club and may not be experiencing any COVID-related symptoms.

o   Members exposed to COVID or with any symptoms are excluded from the Club until cleared in writing by a medical provider. Siblings in the household may be excluded as well.

o   Masks are mandatory.

o   Parents/Guardians are expected to report exposures/positive case results within the household to Club administration immediately.

·         Please honor the Club’s “Use It or Lose It” policy around membership. Because of waiting lists, regular attendance is a Club expectation to maintain active status. Membership may be revoked if the member does take advantage of the program.  (COVID absences with medical documentation are excused.)

 6th – 12th graders:      FULL DAY PROGRAMS

·         Hours of Operation:    7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

·         Attendance

o   Group A attends the Club Tuesdays and Fridays only

o   Group B attends the Club Mondays and Thursdays only

·         WEDNESDAYS: Wednesday programs will be divided at the Boys & Girls Club as follows:

 

o   Group B: Feb. Wednesdays

o   Group A: Mar. Wednesdays

o   Group B: April Wednesdays

o   Group A: May Wednesdays

 

6th – 12th Grade OPERATING EXPECTATIONS

·         ARRIVAL: 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. ONLY. Members enter the building at the Teen Gate.

·         Parents/guardians must be present health screening prior to entry.

o   Youth must have a temperature less than 100.4 and may not be experiencing any COVID-related symptoms.

o   Members exposed to COVID or with symptoms may not attend until cleared in writing by a medical provider. Siblings in the household may be excluded as well.

o   Masks are mandatory.

o   Parents/Guardians are expected to report exposures/positive case results within the household to Club administration immediately.

·         Morning hours (8 a.m. – noon) devoted exclusively to virtual learning. Members must bring school-issued chromebooks, attend all classes and complete schoolwork daily at the Club in order to attend.  Afternoon programs extend until 5:30 p.m.

·         Breakfast and lunch provided.

·         CURBSIDE DISMISSAL (5:00 – 5:30 p.m.): Members delivered, curbside, to designated zones for parent pick-up.
