21st Century Grant

We Are a 21st Century Community Learning Center

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant is a federal program aimed at providing academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly those who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. For the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, this grant supports efforts to help students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math. It also offers a broad array of enrichment activities designed to complement their regular academic programs, including arts, technology, and health education.

The 21st Century grant allows the Boys & Girls Club to:

  1. Extend learning opportunities: Offering after-school and summer programming that boosts academic performance and engages youth in new and creative ways.
  2. Provide a safe and supportive environment: Ensuring that Club members have a secure place to go after school, reducing the time they may otherwise spend unsupervised.
  3. Offer enrichment activities: From STEM programs to arts, the grant enables a variety of experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and growth in Club members.
  4. Family involvement: The grant also helps engage families, providing resources that help support children’s learning and development.

By securing this grant, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County can continue to offer programs that directly address the needs of the community’s youth, empowering them to succeed in school and life. This also allows the Club to waive the membership fee (previously $5) for all members.
