There's no place like Home

As a kid, family road trips were no-frills affairs that involved smashing four kids and an old dog into a Volkswagen bus with questionable a/c. If you were hungry, you ate a peanut butter sandwich with lukewarm lemonade. No drive-thru for you! If you were tired, you unrolled a sleeping bag on the floorboards, hoping not to have your head stepped on. You passed the time coloring, daydreaming, bickering, and whining, “Are we there yet?”
